Medicinal herbs have been discovered and used in traditional medicine practices since prehistoric times. Indian history and mythology is full of stories of such plants. These plants are commonly used in Indian households for cooking, home remedies and Ayurvedic treatments. In modern medicine, around a quarter of the drugs prescribed to patients are derived from medicinal plants, the world health organization estimates some two billion people are largely reliant on medicinal plants. The use of medicinal plants is progressively increasing in developed countries and the world is drawing upon the ancient knowledge of Indian subcontinent to make healthcare more effective. Medicinal plot was added to the garden in subsequent years of its formation. It has collection of more than 120 species which have medicinal usages in Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy and modern medicines.
